You’re invited to the messiest dinner party in theatre and film – Liz Taylor and Richard Burton in Mike Nichols’ explosive directorial debut adaptation of Edward Albee’s Tony-winning absurdist masterpiece. A history professor and his wife entertain a young couple who are new to the university’s faculty. As the drinks flow, secrets come to light, and the acerbic middle-aged couple unload onto their guests the full force of the bitterness, dysfunction, and animosity that defines their marriage. Nominated for 13 Academy Awards and winner of 5 (Liz Taylor’s second win), this is precisely what they mean when they say a “tour de force”!
