Melody of China, a renowned San Francisco-based Chinese chamber ensemble, brings the beauty and versatility of traditional Chinese instruments to the stage. Combining ancient Chinese musical traditions with contemporary compositions, the ensemble, led by Artistic Director Yangqin Zhao, has become a leading force in Chinese music in the U.S. Known for their innovative performances, Melody of China breaks cultural barriers by blending classical Chinese music with modern works by prominent composers. This concert promises a dazzling fusion of tradition and innovation, showcasing instruments like the yangqin (hammered dulcimer), guzheng (zither), erhu (two-stringed fiddle), and more.
