Martin Luther King Jr. Day Concert
Saturday, January 17, 2026
The Skirball welcomes back the Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles (ICYOLA)—the largest Black-majority orchestra in the nation—for an unforgettable night of sound and purpose. More than 100 young musicians and singers will fill the stage, using music to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his fight for justice, equality, and civil rights.
Founded in 2009, ICYOLA uses music to change lives. Through high-quality music education, young people from Inner City Los Angeles learn to perform world-class music on some of LA’s biggest stages. But this is about more than music—it’s about confidence, discipline, creativity, and finding your voice.
ICYOLA helps young artists build real skills for the future: critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, and the courage to dream big. This is music with meaning—and a reminder of what young people can achieve when they’re given the chance.
