With an introduction by Santi Elijah Holley, the author of An Amerikan Family: The Shakurs and the Nation They Created, and a forthcoming book on Melvin Van Peebles and independent Black cinema.

Vidiots is celebrating the 100th Birthday of Malcolm X with a screening of the epic Spike Lee biopic. Helmed by Denzel Washington and Angela Bassett in remarkable performances, this cinematic and historic masterpiece is moving tribute to the controversial black activist and leader of the struggle for black liberation. Follow the life and struggles of the civil rights leader from his rock-bottom during his imprisonment in the ’50s, to becoming a Black Muslim and then a leader in the Nation of Islam, leading up to his tragic assassination in 1965. Expertly paced, reverent, and perennially relevant, there’s no better time to immerse yourself in the revolutionary world of Malcolm X.
