  • 3 17 Final La Razon Website

24Th Street Theater is bringing back La Razón Blindada (The Armored Reason), a play about finding the courage to stand up to oppression. It's literally about standing up for your beliefs. The piece combines Kafka and Cervantes with his Don Quijote to help these political prisoners stand up to their oppressors. It could not be more timely than it is today!

Two political prisoners, pressured by emotional and physical circumstances, meet every Sunday evening to tell each other the story of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. They do so from the most extreme limitations of being imprisoned in a high-security prison or in a country surrounded by walls, but also with the vital need to tell each other a story that saves them, that transports them to a human adventure located in the imagination, that place that the most extreme reality cannot reach, a place where the most extreme pain can be mitigated by the act of imagining another reality. Thus, they continually reinvent Don Quixote, that knight who confuses windmills with giants, gray women with maidens, prisons with paradise, and who exiles himself in unreason, in that strange disorder that harms no one but profoundly helps us live.
