In this 20th-century retelling, Carmen is a worker in a parachute factory and her conquest is a military private. A tragic tale of love, lust, jealousy, unfaithfulness, and murder – Carmen Jones is a luminous vehicle for the dazzling Dandridge who became the first Black woman nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award.
