A stunningly beautiful bossa nova interpretation of the Greek myth of Orpheus set in vibrant and intoxicating Brazil during Carnaval. Young lovers Orfeu and Eurydice run through the favelas of Rio during Carnaval, on the lam from a hitman dressed like Death and Orfeu’s vengeful fiancée Mira and passing between moments of fantasy and stark reality. This impressionistic retelling of the Greek legend of Orpheus and Eurydice introduced bossa nova to the world with its soundtrack by young Brazilian composers Luiz Bonfá and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Winner of the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival as well as Best Foreign Language Film at both the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards, Black Orpheus remains a treasured classic and a big screen essential!

Box office is open 90 minutes before showtime. Our video store is open daily and available to hang out in before and after most shows, depending on the showtime.
